This is the OVA that inspired the RPG games.
Both the games and the OVA are based on the novel of the same name by Aya Nishitani, the difference being that the games (MT1&2) are set after the second novel. Unlike the OVA.

15 years ago, the Dreamcast came and gave us a dream of the future with experiences we’ve never seen before. In its short lifespan, the diversity of games it delivered was incredibly vast and interesting and its legacy can be felt even now. Thanks for everything, Dreamcast.

Published overseas today by Kadokawa / Enterbrain, the book retails for ¥2,052 / $19.
